Blogging From A to Z – 2018 – I is for

Welcome to the letter I in the A to Z Challenge for 2018.   For this year’s challenge I am working my way through the alphabet in Michaels Arts and Crafts store.  At Michaels, the letter I stands for Iron-On.

There is a whole section of iron-on transfers that you can use to personalize almost anything.  T-shirts are the most common but you can use them for decorating an apron for mom for Mother’s Day or a reusable shopping bag that we all need to carry now in California.

They have lots of different styles and colors

Catchy phrases and pictures too

If you are planning a family reunion, you can spell out the family name or your family motto and the date to remember the event.

Many different styles and colors of the alphabet to spell out your own messages.
These are the T-shirt boards you put in between the T-shirt when you are doing the ironing.
Here are just a few examples:

Mandalas

dream catchers – lol

I love this peacock.

terrific words of inspiration
The good thing about Iron-ons is that they are relatively easy to use and much neater than using glitter, although with something like the peacock or even the “dream catcher” above I might add some glitter and with the “Follow your dreams…” I might use some fabric paint to outline the words…so many possibilities!
Have you used iron-ons?  Gone to a family reunion with matching T-shirts?  Lemme know and make sure to stop by the other A to Zers.

(Note:  I decided I should add a disclaimer to these posts because I certainly don’t want to give the idea that I am being paid by Michaels to do this or that they are furnishing me with material.  All pictures used in this blog series were taken by me at local Michaels stores, or are my personal pictures and every Michaels store may not have everything shown.)

    Oh my goodness. The possibilities…
My mom used iron-ons to repair my brothers’ pants in the ’60s.
I made an art quilt using digital images printed on iron-on “paper”. I was pleased with the results!
Oh yeah, I made a tee with an iron-on digital “Pop Tart” image too (in the ’90s).

  2. I try to stay out or I’ll need another drawer to fill! I have tons of craft supplies but don’t seem to use so much now, but if I get rid of them…. well you know what happens! Lately I’ve been knitting socks!

I didn’t know about these iron-on things, but then like you and Jill I’m not much for ironing!

  4. When we took our girls to see Bruce Springsteen in concert, my oldest drew a picture of us watching the Bruce, and we transferred it to iron-on paper so we could wear matching t-shirts. It was a lot of fun. Weekends In Maine

  5. There are a lot of iron-ons I’d love. I never got into them too much but really, why didn’t I?

  6. I’ve never used iron-one…maybe because I don’t own an iron!😉

  7. Since my crafting (altered books)has been on hold, I haven’t wandered the isles like I used to. Amazed that this wonderful iron-on ‘stuff’ has expanded as it so handy. The store owes you big time for helping them market their endless supplies. I hope you have sent your links to at least our local store.

Love altered books and have just started getting into that. I have sent my link to corporate PR department but haven’t heard from them. Also put it on the Facebook official page. 🙂

  8. I love your series, Janet. It makes me want to go to Michaels and try EVERYTHING. I’ve never tried their iron-ons, but will have to check it out. It’s a good thing we are currently in the middle of nowhere desert where the nearest Michaels is at least an hour away. Next week, though…
